Gavin tells how Color Fantasies came to be: “I looked at a lot of color concepts for Color Fantasies. It was amazing because I was focused only on what we could do with great color and the nuances that effect the tone and feel of our photos. I looked at color in film and at how other masters were using color. It was an great study that will continue to make my effects better and I took what I learned and focused on making a set of presets that quickly achieve the most stunning appealing color tones I could find anywhere. That’s the foundation for CF.
Next I went a step further. I made a single Photoshop action to go along with it all and called it Smooth Magic. All the color is done with the presets. Then for those that do portraits, children or any image in which you want that gracefully smooth look of perfect skin or surfaces, you can open the image in Photoshop and quickly run this automatic action which gives you that “smooth look” that can’t be achieved any way but in PS. The action is not required to use Color Fantasies, so if you don’t need the look or don’t use Photoshop, you can just stay in LR.
