Gavin's HDR Worksop This Fall
Gavin Seim:
I mentioned this on the last podcast...
http://www.prophotoshow.net/blog/2009/01/26/pro-photography-podcast-54-no-spammy-jerks/
Just wanted to throw it up and see what people thought. How many days should this workshop be? Is anyone actually interested in coming to WA for my HDR workshop.
Maybe I should make this a more general photo workshop, but HDR seems like a nych that needs teaching.

I agree that HDR is a niche and a decent workshop would be useful (there are thousands of standard workshops). Alas, the flights, the value of the pound, and the wife would make it a trip I couldn't really stretch to. Good luck though!

AvPhoto:
I would be interested in a two-part workshop that would cover shooting techniques and then processing techniques. A split single day or two event work for me.
bksecret:
Doing this yourself? Co-presenters? Assistants?
Oh, and is a "worksop" more fun to attend than the usual workshop? :tongue3:
Just my two cents:
• Field capture for merging in post is a key part of the process
• Goals for merging in post, desired outcome, "real" vs. surreal vs. own style
• Controlling contrast, saturation, halos, merging errors, bad outcomes, surprises
• Dedicated tools to get you there and everyday tools a different way
• Indoor capture vs. outdoor capture and merge in post
• Landscape vs. people vs. moving subject matter
• Rapid fps field capture vs. long exposure
I really began putting exposure merging (I call it HEC for Hybrid Exposure Compensation) two years ago into my workflow and have a streamlined workflow for my goals for images now. Fun stuff when you get your style figured out! Then when you get it dialed in, there are more things to learn. ;)

Gavin Seim:
Thanks Landon. Honestly I'm not sure yet. Still working out details but I'll keep everyone posted. You have killer HDR work.
