Black and white HDR

(1/1)

AvPhoto:
I shot this one hand held with three exposures.  The image was processed with Photomatix then desaturated in LR 2.

Taken at Conway NH Scenic Railway station on Oct 8th.

Very nice indeed. I've done a bit with b&w HDR myself and, particularly with machinery, the amound of detail you see is stunning. Here's one my b&w HDR:

Very nice shots, both of you!  :)

I've tried to take pictures of a locomotive myself and found it very hard to get details in all the black parts without overexposing other parts. Very good use of HDR I'd say (not an option for me though cause the train was running :-\)

Very cool!

I want to go off into Eastern Ky this winter and play with HDR.  Did you take these in BW on the camera or convert them to BW and do the conversion then?

Let me know how you did this.

Best wishes,

Rob

I did all of the shooting and post work in color, including the HDR conversions.  Desaturating the image for B&W was the last step before saving.
