phantomex:
Ive been trying to mess around with hdr for awhile now and I can't seem to get it right. I am using photoshop for my hdr conversion (i want to get photomatix) but I dont feel that i take enough pictures (in hdr) to cover the cost of it. This is the way I did it.

1. I took my pictures (i think i had 5 exposures) and had them merge into hdr using photo shop.
2. Then when it was done I converted it to a 16bit file, and then it pops up with the hdr conversion box. then i choose the local adaptation box and change the curves.
3. when im done with that I will go into the shadows and highlights and mess around with that.

after i have done that it still feel like i dont have an hdr image.

any tips that you might have for me would be greatly appreciated.
I have included my finished HDR.

Ya like I've said in the past, PS seems limited.

No need to do tome mapping, and there's no feature for it in PS. You can of course use curves and get something, but to really have control over your HDR's you need to jump in and get a program or plugin like Photomatix.

I wish I had some better tips, but PS is really not a very god tool for making HDR's in my opinion. Good for final edits once the HDR is rendered, but you still need a tone mapped image first.
