...Thanks!   ;)

A while back ago there was a thread on how you provide your Image DVD to the Bride and Groom Dennis, using the Lightscribe DVD burner.  Well I showed that thread to my wife at the time, and mentioned how cool And very useful I thought it was.

Wouldn't you know, right there under the tree, the second gift I opened was the latest version of that LaCie d2 DVD+/-RW with LightScribe external drive.  Now I just need to get some media.  I was actually surprised that it did not come with sample media?  O' well... I've ordered both plane and colored disks on line, and I'm heading out tomorrow to see if I can find some in town to play with.  Heck, I'm excited about this new toy and what it means to me with the labling process.  Even if it does take 20-30 minutes to burn the label side, I think it's worth the effort in the long run, especially with customer disks.  Now I just need to work out some new design ideas?
So If I work from a color image, does it burn this in shades of grey?

Thanks again Dennis for sharing your thread on this.

Now where's that 40D I ordered???
(actually scheduled delivery on Friday!!!)

The lacie D@ is a great burner. I myself don't use lightscribe much since I still do paper labels, but even as just a burner it's super. The lightscribe is gray scale, but I'm not an expert beyond that. Think Dennis is your man for the details.

Nive gift, super...  ;D

;D Glad to help!  Sounds like you will be playing a bunch of new "toys" to ring in the start of 2008.  Nice.

The burner burns monochromatic so what I usually do is convert color pictures to black and white to use on the disc.  You don't have to, it just helps me see what I can expect.  The key I have found to making them look their best is to increase the contrast and sharpening of the image.  This will make it really "pop" off the disc.  It actually really looks best if you select a higher contrast image to begin with.

I have also found that the Lightscribe CDs are much crisper and sharper than the Lightscribe DVDs.  I think it might have something to do with the different layers or materials used in the disc.  Either way, it makes a great presentation.  Enjoy your toys!  8)
