I still struggle some with pricing out new items or jobs that are a new area for me but this one I'm just not real sure how to best work out.
I have met a woman through my 'day job' LOL (yes I still have that!). She is taking over and revamping a business previously owned by her brother. They offer characters for kids birthday parties such as cinderella and spiderman to do activities with the kids. She does not currently have a photographer so we are talking about ways we could team up our services.
Now come all the questions..
-- I was thinking I would charge $10 for a 5x7 of each childs picture with the character with the birthday child being free. But then there is the question of those who bring their own cameras..
I'm thinking it's prepaid so I will only take the picture if its paid which child would not be taking up my time for a no sale and parent would not have that photo op on their own without paying at least the $10.
-- There is also the issue of should I have a 'fee' for being at the party at all as an add-on to the other companys package or should I just 'go' with no guaranteed pay and just count on picture sales as my income from it.
What am I forgetting?? The up side is that I would be meeting people, have some work in our off season (I'm in a tourist town) and get my name on their advertising which is quite a bit more than what I am able to do at this time.
There would also be an option to have me cover the entire party for an additional fee. I typically charge $125 for a kids party and that just incudes some basic highlights printed aand the digital files. This seems to work well adn keep things simple for kids parties.
So, any ideas or tips to make this a successful venture? any pitfalls to avoid? What do you all think??
Thanks so mcuh for taking the time to read all of this! LOL
