Twin screens?
« on: June 30, 2010, 02:38:18 AM »
Hi All,

I think I remember Gavin talking about twin screens in a podcast a while back and as I am just buying a new PC, I'm wondering about keeping my little 17" HD screen and adding a 23"HD too.  My question is; how does this work with Lightroom 3?  Do you have the picture on one screen and the program interface on the other?

My new PC is 64-bit (again after listening to a prophotoshow podcast - thanks Gavin) and I also have concerns about compatibility of some older programmes that I have on my 32-bit.

Thanks for any help given guys,

Andrew.

Hi Andrew,

Been using dual monitors with Lr for the past 18 months or so.  Lightroom lets you configure that second monitor to do what ever you want it to do.  I choose to make my right monitor the grid mode and the left monitor the single image.  Works for me.  Hope that helps a bit.

Dual screens really shine through when using PS.  You are able to have all of your menus, pallets, and layers on one screen and simply the image you are working with on the other.  Dual screens for LR isn't necessary, but can be helpful at times and LR has an easy means by which to connect your extra monitor and choose what you want to display on that monitor.
